let's do.. bible study

haven't posted here for a long time.. wanted to post stuff in tetum but dunno much tetum..

gonna study 1 chapter of the bible each day, starting with the gospel according to mark, using the new spirit filled life bible (nkjv)

Holy Spirit help me understand and open my eyes and heart to receive what i should learn.. thank You Lord Jesus amen (in case anyone chance upon this site.. the stuff are just my personal views and understanding.. i'm a young christian learning to do bible study..)

***

some of the terminologies (picked up here and there)
gospel:- "good news", "documentary" of Jesus Christ on earth recorded by matthew, mark, luke , john
evangelion (yoo-ang-ghel-ee-on)
synoptic gospels:- matthew, mark, luke presents a synopsis (brief view, summary, abstract, highlights, gist, outline) of Jesus's life.

other notes:- the bible is a "documentary" of Jesus Christ on earth (vs "commentary" through prophesies)

what i've gathered from reading mark 1:1-15

preparation is necessary: mark 1:2 "As it is written in the Prophets (see Mal 3:1): "Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You."
- before Jesus began His ministry, He went through preparation..
- John, who had been preparing the way for Him, and telling people of His coming, baptized Him and the Holy Spirit descended on Him, He received the anointing from God
- He was sent into the wilderness for 40 days (tremendous hardship worsened by temptation from satan)
- preparation of hearts for salvation (john preached baptism of repentance in preparation for remission of sins)

mark 1:15 "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

what i lack in preparation for ministry:
- i don't spend enough time studying the bible
- i don't read the bible sequentially
- it's been 2 years and i haven't read the bible from cover to cover

what i need to do to prepare myself
- study at least 1 chapter of the bible everyday
- conscientiously tune in to God's channel all the time
- conscientiously journal down my dreams, visions, and all that God tells me

God please prepare me and lead me to the wilderness and all that it takes to prepare, please help me stand firm on Your words in difficulties and temptations to choose the easy way out, and rejoice and praise You and thank You at all times. Please let my eyes, ears and heart be sensitive to Your voice, so that i can hear Your softest sigh. Help me to tune in to Your channel all the time and master the art of filtering out noise and distractions.

preparation continued..
team work - Jesus doesn't work alone, He gathered a team before He began His ministry. in mark 1:16-20 He called 4 fishermen to "follow Him" and help Him in His ministry.

what stands out is that all of them immediately gave up their everything to follow Him. they left everything - their fishing nets, their boats, their family, their friends, their life.. to follow Him when they heard Him calling

they didn't wait to finish mending their nets, nor packed their bags, nor bid farewell to their village.

what i lack
i'd do many other things before i settle down to study the bible

i want to be like simon, andrew, james john too, to be able to follow God without making up excuses or hesitation when i hear Him call, to go the way He wants me to, without procastinating..

what i need to do
to wake up earlier in the morning for quiet time

Heavenly Father please strengthen my spirit, and help me to obey You according to Your timing, not my timing, in Jesus name i pray amen

mark 1:21-45
Jesus began His ministry..
He cast out demons (25"Be quiet, and come out of Him!"),
healed the sick (31So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them),
cleansed a leper (41Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." 42And as soon as He had spoken, immediately, the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.),
preached in synagogues throughout Galilee (38But He said to them, "Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.")
These miracles amazed the people, they'd never seen anything like it before (27Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, "What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.").
Testimonies drew multitudes were drawn to Him but disobedience also impeded His movement in the cities. (43And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once, and said to him, "See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." 45"However, he went out and began to proclaim freely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every direction.")
(He also raised the dead)

Maromak Forbensau Timor Leste

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
in Happy moments, praise God.
in Difficult moments, seek God.
in Quiet moments, worship God.
in Painful moments, trust God.

Every moment, thank God.
